Coalition for Access to McCarthy |
Environmentally friendly access for all! |
The Coalition for Access to McCarthy, also known as CAM, originated August 13, 2000 in McCarthy when 14 local residents met in order to form a McCarthy Road advocacy group. Since that time membership has increased to about 90. The majority of our membership is made up of part or full time residents along the corridor or individuals with substantial business or land interests in this area. |
To be forthright, CAM was in fact forced into existence due to decades of inaction. Environmental organizations have successfully blocked most road enhancement efforts by supporting endless and meaningless studies designed only to delay. |
The Coalition’s goals are clear and straightforward: |
· |
“Promote increased access to the McCarthy Corridor” |
· |
“Accomplish enhanced access through improvements to the McCarthy Road, up to and including installation of a hard surface.” |
· |
“In addition to increased access the Coalition searches for solutions to road safety concerns, equal and shared access, and yeararound maintenance.” |
· |
“The Coalition believes that upgrading the road will ultimately result in its primary goal of increased economic development for the residents of the McCarthy Corridor and the Alaskan public.” |
If you agree with these goals, CAM welcomes you to join us. |
